Technical Data
Torsion springs are tough coiled springs placed on a metal rod. This metal rod lies parallel to the garage door. Because they are tightly coiled, torsion springs store a lot of energy, which is generated and transferred to the springs as the garage door moves. Torsion springs make it easier for the garage door to open and close. As the door opens, the springs uncoil, releasing energy that opens the garage door. There are two types of torsion springs:
- Standard. This type is usually mounted on the garage door. It is cheaper and mostly used for residential garage doors.
- Torque Master. Because these springs remain in place, they are considered the safest.
We offer a wide selection of zinc-galvanized torsion springs in 1.75” and 2” diameters in multiple wire sizes ranging from 0.192, 0.207, 0.218, 0.225, 0.234, 0.243, 0.250, 0.262 to 0.272.
Garage Door Torsion Spring Lifecycle
As the door is opened and closed over time, the steel in the springs can start to weaken as the door gradually becomes too heavy for them, rendering them less effective. The springs will eventually break, leaving the door closed. Torsion springs can also be affected by rust and cold weather. The average garage door torsion springs will last somewhere between 5-7 years, and should last around 18,000 cycles. So, if you open and close your garage door 3-5 times a day for over 365 days in a year, you should get plenty of life out of your torsion springs.
Tianjin Wangxia Garage Door Torsion Springs are manufactured from high-tensile, oil-tempered spring wire, meeting ASTM A229 and lasting nearly 18,000 cycles.
